Chancellor’s Conference Day at Citibank Executive Center -- June 6, 2019

Our special keynote speaker, Susanne Morrow Project Director, New York Deaf Blind Collaborative, gave a heartfelt presentation on the wonderful work that she does on behalf of deaf and blind children. Her methods give a voice to our most vulnerable kids.

Another highlight was a visit from our friends at PBS. They showed us how to bring amazing programming into our classrooms to enrich our lessons.

Eva Perez and the English As A New Language team members led a yearlong series of workshops and gave a culminating presentation of best practices for effective English language instruction. The approaches and strategies discussed help to break down barriers in communication with children who are learning English. Other English As a New Language team members include Laura Williams, Sonia Davila, Lilian Vargas, and Tania Alvarado.

Sarah Paulding introduced the new Department of Education Passport curriculum, “Civics for All.” Passport has been an integral part of our social studies curriculum. These new materials promise to be as interesting as our Passport work.

The Access for All team shared the latest technological innovations for working with children who have severe disabilities. These new technologies will make learning more accessible for this population.
